About the Speaker​

 

Assoc Prof Patrea ANDERSEN

Academic Director for Simulation and Visualisation,
Centre for Support and Advancement of Learning and Teaching (C-SALT)
University of Sunshine Coast (USC), Australia

Associate Professor Patrea Andersen has extensive academic experience in Nursing Education. As Academic Director for Simulation and Visualisation for USC, her primary focus is on the utilisation of advanced technologies in simulation and curricula integration. Her research interests cover clinical education, simulation (including visualisation and game-based simulation, AR and VR applications), patient safety and professional competence, with a focus on issues impacting the preparation and development of healthcare professionals.

Dr Andersen was the recipient of an Australian Department of Education Office of Learning and Teaching (OLT) citation for leadership in simulation in 2015 and is a Higher Education Academy (HEA) Senior Fellow. She also holds a number of governance roles, including serving as Chair of the Australian simulation education collective InSPIRE and the Australian Chair for SimGHOSTS, Australia.
