Art, Music and Nature: Enhancing Patient Care at SingHealth Community Hospitals

Singapore, 2 December 2025 – At SingHealth Community Hospitals (SCH), arts and nature are integral to patient recovery through our social prescribing programme, which focuses on holistic care beyond medicine.

This approach shifts the question from “What’s the matter with you?” to “What matters to you?”, addressing non-medical factors like loneliness and isolation that impact healing.

Today, Outram Community Hospital (OCH) hosted its inaugural Creative Wellness event in collaboration with ArtsEverywhere @ CDC, a National Arts Council initiative.

Patients, staff, and community partners came together to co-create a vibrant art piece – a symbol of collective care, while enjoying an enchanting harp performance by Charmaine Teo, titled Canvas, A Journey Through Time.

Guest-of-Honour Professor Fong Kok Yong, Deputy Group CEO (Medical & Clinical Services), SingHealth, also unveiled SCH’s new Hydroponics Garden at OCH’s Level 12.

This green space offers patients:

• Calm – Nature reduces stress and anxiety
• Connection – Gardening encourages social interaction

Through creative engagement and nature-based activities, SCH continues to bring joy, meaning, and community into patient care.
