Many of those who find themselves in simulation technology and operations roles do not have a medical background and are therefore submersed into an arena filled with medical equipment and a foreign lingo. This lecture will focus on understanding and troubleshooting common medical equipment such as IV pumps, defibrillators & hospital beds. Associated medical terminology and abbreviations are also covered in this lecture, and are extremely helpful to know and understand. Being able to apply this core knowledge is advantageous to technical personnel in every simulation programme.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Identify, understand and apply medical industry terms and acronyms
  2. Identify and describe medical equipment often found in simulation, and apply common troubleshooting techniques
  3. Identify and describe common medical supplies
