Director, Digital Health Research in the SingHealth Duke-NUS Family Medicine Academic Clinical Programme (FM ACP).

Clin Prof Ng’s research expertise lies in the fields of shared decision-making, implementation science, digital health and men’s health. He has published 200 ISI-indexed papers in peer-reviewed journals, which received more than 2,978 citations. He currently leads the S$3.5 million strategic hire grant for the EmPaTHy programme and was the PI for several international and national grants totaling close to S$1 million. His past credentials include Editor-in-Chief of the Malaysian Family Physician publication, Deputy Chair of the University of Malaya Medical Centre Medical Research Ethics Committee and Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya, before he relocated to Singapore. He still serves as an advisor to several editorial boards. His academic work focuses on vulnerable populations, specifically patients with low health literacy, psychosocial issues and those with difficulty in accessing care. Through research, he identifies such populations and develops tools and interventions that are tailored for them. He is particularly interested in discerning the health-seeking behaviours of different populations, as well as understanding how gender, culture and health literacy influence health beliefs and behaviours in vulnerable populations. Besides research and clinical work, Clin Prof Ng also mentors medical students, residents, fellowship trainees as well as Masters and PhD students. He has a wealth of experience as an examiner in various Family Medicine undergraduate and postgraduate training examinations such as MBBS, Master of Medicine (Family Medicine) and Membership of the Academy of Family Physicians (Malaysia). He has won several accolades, notably the Excellent Lecturer Award from the University of Malaya in 2015.
