ESTHER Network Singapore

Launched in 2016, ESTHER Network Singapore aims to promote the philosophy of person-centred care and to train a pipeline of ESTHER Coaches to drive improvement work to better serve our patients and their caregivers.

The ESTHER Network started in Jonkoping, Sweden in 1997. "Esther" is a symbolic 88-year-old lady who requires close coordination across different care settings to address her health and social care needs.

The Network constantly seeks to answer the question, "What is best for Esther?" by putting the individual at the heart of all its work.

As of May 2023, 353 health and social care professionals from 72 institutions have undergone the ESTHER Coach training programme to lead and facilitate person-centred improvement work.

ESTHER Ambassador Recruitment Campaign 

The ESTHER Ambassador Recruitment Campaign, is a new and transformative initiative that marks a new chapter in person-centred care. Building on the success of the ESTHER Network Singapore, this campaign empowers patients, caregivers, and community residents, to become volunteer-leaders known as ESTHER Ambassadors.  

Moving beyond the traditional role that patients, caregivers, and community residents play in sharing their insights to shape person-centred improvement projects, ESTHER Ambassadors are empowered to co-lead care improvement projects alongside trained ESTHER Coaches.

What Do You Know about ESTHER Ambassadors?

• They are invited to attend strategic meetings, discussions and conferences. 
• ESTHER Ambassadors may attend ESTHER Coach training sessions.
• Speak at sharing sessions known as ESTHER Cafés (sessing sessions with patients and caregivers).
• Engage in co-developing training curriculums in person-centred care.
• Contribute to sharing new person-centred healthcare policy and practices to strengthen care transformation and re-design.   
• ESTHER Ambassadors may attend ESTHER Coach training sessions.
• Speak at sharing sessions known as ESTHER Cafés (sessing sessions with patients and caregivers).
• Participate in research and publications.
• They may introduce ESTHER Network to other patients and caregivers across SingHealth institutions and community settings such as hospitals, specialist centres, and Active Ageing Centres.  

How Much Commitment Is Required as An ESTHER Ambassador?

• ESTHER Ambassadors are empowered to identify and commit to roles based on their existing health status, work schedule and interest. 

Recruitment Details and Criteria

• Recruitment of the campaign is ongoing.
• Patients, caregivers, and community residents who are receiving health and community care services and are keen to partner with care professionals to improve care are warmly invited to step forward.
