Talk Title: Co-creating a Sustainable Mental Health Ecosystem: Harnessing Peer and Community-Driven Support

Low Mun Heng has a deep interest in mental health services. In his career path, he has been in direct practice as well as a leader in social work.  Mun Heng has worked for more than 18 years at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH), where he specialised in working with clients with severe mental illnesses and addiction issues. With his extensive social work experience in mental health, he joined Allkin Singapore in 2016 where he initiated the Mental Health Service (formerly known as MindCare) that focused on community mental health interventions with collaboration with various partners. A firm believer in upstream work, he actively promoted mental health education through the #imOKru mobile app and conducted educational talks at Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs) and public forums. In his role as a leader, he oversaw the administration of the apprenticeship program at Allkin’s Mental Health Service that supports client in their recovery journey and also supervised the Restorative Service Team that provides psychosocial support for the offending population. Following his tenure at Allkin, Mun Heng served as the Director of Sheng Hong Welfare Services for three years before rejoining Allkin Singapore as the Principal Social Worker in the Division of Care & Integration.
