Education

With a purpose of building an education platform to increase the number of genomic-trained professionals across SingHealth, SD GMC offers the following educational programmes and webinars to allow interested individuals in the community to learn more about genomic medicine.

1. Genetics Education for Medical Professionals
This workshop will allow healthcare professionals to be equipped with practical up-to-date knowledge in the following areas to provide the best care to their patients.

   a. Clinical application of genetic testing

   b. Practical aspects of genetic counselling
   c. Current legal frame
   d. Work regulating genetic testing

2. Executive Certificate Programme in Clinical Genomics
To meet the anticipated demand for genetic counselling in various clinical domains, the executive certificate programme aims to equip individuals with a deeper understanding of clinical genomics and genetic counselling skills by providing structured training. Integrating theoretical and practical aspects of genetic counselling, this programme provides individuals an opportunity to experience genetic counselling by role-playing or with simulated patients.

Target Audience

• Physicians, life science graduates, nurses and allied health professionals

Dates

• 21 - 22, 28 - 29 April 2025 & 5 May 2025 (Full 5-day course)

This programme is now supported by SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) Funding Scheme. Please refer to the table below for information on course fees. For more details on eligibility criteria, please email sd.genomic.medicine@singhealth.com.sg to enquire.

To note:

1. SSG will only fund a course once for each eligible trainee and in the event that you have to retake a course, you will not be eligible for SSG funding again.
2. *For students who are supported by SSG funding, please note that if you have taken an SSG-funded course, you would be liable to pay back the SSG training grant plus the prevailing Goods and Services Tax (GST) to NUS if you have received the grant for the course and fall into any of the following categories:
   • Failure to achieve 100% course attendance
   • Premature withdrawal from the course
   • Failure to pass all prescribed coursework, examinations and/or assessments for the course
3. Please note that the Tuition Fee and Student Services Fee (SSF) are non-refundable and non-transferable.
4. All requests for withdrawal must be received 6 weeks before the start of the workshop for the course. Late withdrawals will be subjected to payment of the FULL course fees. Any access to learning materials (online preparatory materials and workshop materials) will be considered as participation and no refunds will be allowed.
   

3. SingHealth Duke-NUS Genomic Medicine Centre Seminar Series
Speakers from clinical and research institutions from Singapore and overseas countries will be invited to share the updates of genomic medicine in clinical practice and to raise the awareness of application of precision medicine among clinicians, researchers, nurses and allied health professionals.
