About Doctor

Dr Alfred Tan is a Consultant Interventional Radiologist at the Department of Vascular and Interventional Radiology, Singapore General Hospital (SGH).

He graduated from the University of Glasgow with commendation and completed his Clinical Radiology training in the United Kingdom, followed by integrated Interventional Radiology fellowship training. His training included experience at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Glasgow, a major tertiary referral centre, where he developed a strong foundation in vascular and image-guided interventions.

Dr Tan’s clinical interests include complex peripheral arterial intervention, arterial and venous vascular interventions, dialysis access interventions, embolisation for benign and malignant conditions, and interventional oncology procedures such as tumour ablation and transarterial therapies. He is particularly interested in advancing minimally invasive treatment options for patients with vascular disease and cancer.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Tan has a strong commitment to medical education. He serves as Director of Education for Interventional Radiology, Medical Student Lead, and Interventional Radiology Fellowship Director. He regularly mentors medical students, residents and fellows, and is actively involved in developing structured training pathways for Interventional Radiology.

Fluent in English, Mandarin and Teochew, Dr Tan is passionate about improving patient understanding of Interventional Radiology and raising public awareness of safe, effective, minimally invasive image-guided treatments in Singapore.
