Audio Equipment and Implementation for Simulation

This workshop will provide an overview of sound transmission, recording and reproduction. A special emphasis will be put on audio terminology to allow attendees to communicate clearly about sound-related problems they encounter in the world of healthcare simulation.
The workshop will also describe different types of audio components, wires, cable and audio connectors that may be encountered in a simulation centre. Design features of several centres will be highlighted to show how these tools have been implemented for improved learner engagment and enhanced function within the simulation centre.
Learning Objectives:
Understand how sound is created and how these principles can improve audio recording and reproduction
Describe the different types of connectors and cables used in simulation laboratories and how they are used and repaired
Integrate audio augmentation devices, including public address systems and voice modulators, to enhance patient portrayal and learner flow
