During Your Stay

Day of Admission

Admission to SCH can only be done through referral from partnering healthcare institutions.

Items To Bring For Your Stay

  • Toiletries (for e.g. toothbrush, toothpaste)
  • Comfortable footwear (for e.g. slippers, sandals, exercise shoes for therapy exercises)
  • Medication
  • Assistive devices (hearing aid, walking frame)

Besides bringing the above, you may also like to bring along your personal items such as photos to decorate your bed space, unless otherwise advised by your care team. You may also bring along extra sets of frequently worn home clothes for your therapy exercises.

Do try to refrain from bringing excessive cash or valuables as the hospitals will not be responsible for your personal belongings.

Your Stay With Us
It is our goal to make sure that patients will regain the ability and confidence to go back to their daily routine, and be able to manage their own conditions independently after their discharge from our hospitals. At SCH, we highly encourage patients to participate actively in their recovery process by working closely with our multidisciplinary care team to determine their care routine and programmes. Through this manner, we will be able to provide patients with a more personalised care routine that is suited to their needs and health goals.

Wrist Identification Band
You will be issued an identification wristband once you have been admitted into SCH. The wristband contains information regarding the patient's name, NRIC and ward number for easy identification by the hospital staff. You are required to wear the wristband at all times during your stay in the hospital.

Meals
Patients will get to choose their daily meals which comprise a selection of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian meals, as well as halal and non-halal, specially planned and prepared by a team of chefs and dietitians. Your meals will also be customised to your personal nutritional needs if advised by the dietician.

Nurse Call Bell
Should you require any assistance at any point of time, a call bell can be found at the side of your bed to alert the ward staff.

No Smoking
As smoking is strictly prohibited by law on the hospitals' premises, we seek your co-operation to be considerate to other patients.

Leaving the Hospital Premises
For your own safety, we strongly advise patients to remain within the Hospital premises unitl you are discharged by your doctor. Please speak to your care team in the ward if you wish to be discharged against the doctors' advice.

Rehabilitation in Every Space
Prolonged bed rest can lead to loss of muscle strength. We hope to keep you out of bed most parts of the day by creating rehabilitative spaces all around you. Our community hospitals have been meticulously and purposefully designed to ensure that patients are recuperating in an environment which provides for optimal recovery.

Rehabilitation activities and programmes

There will also be physical and social activitites to complement the clinical sessions to provide you with an overall balanced recovery programme.
