Hope In The Heartland

The documentary captured shots both in and out of the wards

Catch Bright Vision Hospital’s journey from a community hospital to a COVID-19 facility in CNA documentary Corridor of Hope.

For almost 20 years, the wards in Bright Vision Hospital (BVH) were where the elderly and terminally ill sought treatment and care. But when a new virus hit Singapore’s shores and the number of local infection cases rose, there was an urgent need to free up beds in acute hospitals for the more critically sick.

In March 2020, the call was made to convert BVH into a hospital facility for medically stable COVID-19 patients. Within days, patients previously in our care were transferred to other care facilities, infection control policies were implemented and staff adapted to caring for patients of a totally different profile.

The lively corridors once frequented by patients and caregivers in our homely hospital became empty sterile spaces with restricted access. But walking along these corridors were our staff with the same heart for patients – staying resilient and determined to play their part in the nation’s fight against the virus.

Our journey was chronicled in the award-winning documentary Corridor of Hope by Channel NewsAsia. You can get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look through the eyes of our staff who shared their experience as they balance their new roles and personal challenges during these trying times.

At the same time, you will also get to hear the first-hand accounts from patients who are away from their families, and how they too found hope in emerging from the darkness of COVID-19.

The documentary has won two awards at the Istanbul Film Festival in Turkey and is also a finalist in Canada’s Montreal Film Festival and Italy’s Oniros Film Festival.
