Functional Screening

functional-screening

Functional screening helps to identify age-related decline in vision, hearing and oral health.

In January 2018, the Ministry of Health and the Health Promotion Board rolled out functional screening for seniors, with the aim of screening some 45,000 seniors aged 60 years and above, by 2023.

Also known as Project Silver Screen (PSS), this national screening programme aims to detect functional decline in vision, hearing, and oral health among seniors in the community early, and to provide timely follow-up as well as affordable assistive devices (i.e. spectacles, hearing aids and dentures) to seniors who need them.  This is to improve their quality of life, support independence and enable ageing in place.

SingHealth offers comprehensive (level 2) screening of seniors who have abnormal results from their level 1 screening. Those who require treatment will be referred to the appropriate specialists for follow-up care.

Get screened if you are aged 60 and above.

Screening is offered at different locations islandwide.
