Ms Ng Tzer Wee
Trainer, Clinical Supervisor, Consultant, Social Worker
With a Master in Social Work from Washington University in St. Louis, Tzer Wee started her career working with patients in palliative and end of life care, dealing with issues relating to death, dying, grief and bereavement, using modalities like case work, groupwork and supportive counselling. Her excellence in clinical work has won her the Healthcare Humanity Award in 2005. In 2011, she received the Outstanding Social Worker’s Award from the President, Republic of Singapore, the highest accolade of the profession.
She moved on to take leadership role in developing a 120-staff strength social work team in TTSH that saw the attrition rate dropped from 30% to less than 7% and one that submitted 29 abstracts to an International Conference in 2016. She received the Excellence in Action (Leadership) Award and the National Day Award (Commendation Medal) in 2015 and 2017 respectively.
In the last 5 years, she has been focusing on building capabilities through clinical supervision, training and consultancy. Using a systemic approach and reflexive practice, she provides group and individual clinical supervision to more than 10 health and social service agencies. Certified in Advance Certificate in Learning and Performance (ACLP), she conducts training using principles in adult learning. Her consultancy with the National Heart Centre has birth a localised community development ‘know-how’ with positive impact on health and social outcomes that has caught the attention at the Regional Health level.
During her 30-year career, she has held several key appointments including a Master Trainer with AIC ACP, Co-chair the NeMSW workgroup, Principal Project Administrator with MOH Chief Allied Health Office, and a member of the Tribunal for the Maintenance of Parents. Amongst her publication is a co-authored chapter in the Oxford Textbook of Palliative Social Work.
