Patients with non-urgent conditions can wait hours to see an emergency medicine doctor. To avoid the long wait — three hours on average and up to seven on very busy days — Singapore General Hospital’s (SGH) Emergency Department (ED) is piloting a service known as SWIFT (SGH-Wide Initiative for Telehealth) Care to allow eligible patients to be seen promptly. Read about the service in the latest issue of Singapore Health.
Also in the issue, read about a minimally invasive surgical procedure that doesn’t require incisions and results in less pain, a shorter hospital stay and lower costs; and also malnutrition that can lead to weight gain.
Find out more about the new CGH-NNI Integrated Spine Centre which provides one-stop care for spinal disorders; the fulfillment and challenges in the work that a transplant coordinator does; a new programme called PaedsENGAGE GP which aims to develop and strengthen
intermediate- and long-term paediatric services in the community; and more!
