SGH@Home is a pilot virtual home care service that is offered to some patients to recover in the comfort and familiiarity of their homes instead of in hospital. Besides encouraging an early return to independence for these patients, the scheme allows the hospital greater flexibility in managing bed space. Read more about the service and how it is changing the way care is delivered in the latest issue of Singapore Health (November-December 2022).
Learn also about another change at SGH: at its specialist clinics, registration, billing and medication ordering can now be done on the Health Buddy app as the hospital looks to cut waiting time for patients.
Also in the issue, read about two novel artificial intelligence tools which use retinal images to detect and predict underlying health issues such as chronic kidney disease; how collaborative effort among four SingHealth institutions has led to the success of new radiation treatment for paediatric cancer patients; and the importance of vitamin D for pregnant women.
