Centre Overview

SingHealth Duke-NUS Pelvic Floor Disorders Centre

The SingHealth - Duke NUS Pelvic Floor Disorders Centre specialises in the diagnosis and management of various pelvic floor disorders by providing integrated, collaborative multi-disciplinary care that pushes the frontier of clinical service, research and education.

Pelvic floor disorders are a group of conditions that can affect both men and women, young and old and can involve more than one pelvic organ. Common conditions include but are not limited to urinary incontinence, overactive bladder, voiding dysfunction, pelvic floor and pelvic organ prolapse (ie. Cystocele, uterovaginal prolapse, rectocele and rectal prolapse), fecal incontinence, obstructed defecation and pelvic floor dysfunction. Embarrassment, fear of stigmatisation and lack of public awareness about treatment options lead many individuals to delay help seeking and suffer in silence.

The SingHealth-Duke NUS Pelvic Floor Disorders Centre offers diagnosis and management of these problems by harnessing the combined expertise of a multi-disciplinary team of specialists and is helmed by the following specialties:

  • Colorectal surgery
  • Gynaecology/Urogynaecology
  • Urology
  • Gastroenterology and Hepatology
  • Paediatric surgery
  • Diagnostic radiology
  • Physiotherapy
  • Psychology
  • Sexual Health Clinic (For Females)

Through close collaboration between clinicians of various specialties, nurses and allied health professionals, the centre serves as a one-stop platform for patients suffering from pelvic floor disorders to receive value driven and personalised care for an otherwise often complex problem. By providing holistic and integrated care, the centre aims to serve the local population and concurrently strengthen its presence as a regional referral centre for pelvic floor disorders and a leader in evidence-based research and advocacy for disease awareness.
