Testosterone undecanoate - Side Effects, Precautions, and Contraindications

What side effects can Testosterone undecanoate cause?

• Oily stools, abdominal pain
• Nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea
• Acne, itching skin
• Chills, muscle pain
• Changes in sexual desire (libido)
• Breast enlargement
• Fluid retention in the tissues usually marked by swelling of legs, ankle, lower legs
• Tingling sensation, headache


The symptoms of a drug allergy include one or more of the following:
• Swollen face/eyes/lips/tongue
• Difficulty in breathing
• Itchy skin rashes over your whole body
If you experience any of these symptoms, you should stop your medication and see your healthcare professional immediately.

Before taking Testosterone undecanoate , what precautions must I follow?

Inform your healthcare professional if:
• You are allergic to this medication or any of the other ingredients of this medication.
• You have prostate or breast cancer.
• You have history of:
        - Liver or kidney problems
        - Heart conditions
        -  Uncontrolled blood pressure
        - Clotting disorders
        - Epilepsy (fits)
        - Migraine
        - Benign prostate hyperplasia (enlargement of prostate)
        - Sleep apnea (a sleep disorder)
        - Diabetes
• You are taking any other medications, including supplements, traditional medications and herbal remedies.

Pregnant women must avoid any contact with the medication, as it may cause the development of unwanted male characteristics in the developing baby. In the event of a contact, wash the area of contact as soon as possible with soap and water.

What food or medicine must I avoid when I take Testosterone undecanoate ?

​Inform your doctor if you are taking oral anticoagulant (warfarin), corticosteroids, insulin or other anti-diabetic medications.
