Doxycycline is a tetracycline-type antibiotic that is used to eliminate bacteria that cause certain types of infection, including pneumonia, venereal diseases and may be used for malaria prophylaxis. Doxycycline is also commonly used in dermatology for conditions such as acne or rosacea.
Doxycycline is usually taken once or twice a day.
Doxycycline comes as a capsule. Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water and remain upright for at least 30 minutes after taking to reduce the risk of oesophageal irritation. Take with food to minimise stomach upset.; unless instructed otherwise.
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember it. Take any remaining doses for that day at evenly spaced intervals.
Discard any unused part of your prescription if your doctor asks you stop taking it.
