Since 2023, the programme has demonstrated excellent clinical outcomes, with no in‑hospital or 90‑day mortality, 100% recipient survival at 180 days, and more than 95% recipient survival at one year. There has been zero living‑donor mortality since the programme’s inception. In 2024, the programme accounted for 50% of all adult liver transplants performed in Singapore, and in 2025, it continued to lead nationally by performing 50% of all adult living‑donor liver transplants across the country.

15 Feb 2006 – First deceased donor liver transplant

22 May 2006 – First living donor liver transplant

8 Apr 2009 – First combined heart–liver transplant in the region

18 Jul 2017 – First ABO-incompatible liver transplant in Southeast Asia

19 Mar 2019 – First laparoscopic living donor hepatectomy in SGH

26 Mar 2022 – First living donor intestinal transplant in Singapore

SGH is a regional and global thought leader in minimally invasive HPB surgery, performing >1500 MIS procedures since 2006.

SGH pioneered robotic HPB surgery in the region in 2013, now performing >160 robotic procedures (as of 2022).

The department leads international multicenter studies and contributes to global consensus guidelines.
