High-5 for hand hygiene

Unveiling of the hand hygiene mascot at SingHealth Polyclinics. The mascot was unveiled at various SingHealth institutions on Hand Hygiene Day.

SingHealth celebrated World Hand Hygiene Day on 5 May 2017 with events and activities throughout the cluster.

This year, SingHealth launched a Hand Hygiene mascot designed by KKH Senior Nurse Manager Shen Haiying, winner of the mascot design contest.

The mascot highlights the most important points in hand hygiene procedure: The 7 steps of handwashing and the 5 key moments of hand hygiene using hand rub or hand wash to prevent infections; all in the name of Target Zero Harm, the common goal in ensuring our patients receive the care they deserve – safe care.

The mascot will be placed at various locations throughout SingHealth institutions and polyclinics to remind staff and patients the importance of good hand hygiene.
