First AI-Powered Head CT scan deployed on AimSG to accelerate diagnosis and treatment of brain bleed

21 September 2026, Singapore – Singapore General Hospital (SGH), Synapxe, the national HealthTech agency, and HealthTech startup Iota MedTech have launched iScreen, an AI-powered tool that provides robust round-the-clock analysis of head Computed Tomography (CT) scans for intracranial haemorrhage1 (ICH) or brain bleeds. This marks the first head CT model deployed on AimSG, Singapore’s national AI medical imaging platform.

This new AI tool instantly analyses patients’ head CT scans to spot signs of ICH and automatically alerts radiologists to urgent cases requiring immediate attention. By reducing the time between scanning and a preliminary diagnosis, the tool enables faster prioritisation and treatment for patients with brain bleeds. All AI-generated findings are reviewed and verified by expert radiologists before any final report is issued, maintaining patient safety, diagnostic accuracy and minimising the risk of AI-related errors.

Each day, SGH performs about 50 head CT scans for patients with various clinical conditions. About 10 percent of these scans reveal acute intracranial haemorrhage, a potentially life-threatening emergency. ICH can be found in strokes, rupture of an aneurysm and tumours, or traumatic head injury. The latter is especially common in the elderly and those on anticoagulants, even with minor physical impact. These patients are also the most vulnerable requiring rapid identification and immediate medical intervention to prevent severe morbidity or mortality.

“iScreen has been transformative in how we respond to suspected intracranial bleeds. Urgent scans are typically reported in 30 minutes to an hour. With iScreen, accurate AI test results are consistently ready in about six minutes, this means our patient care team can confidently make faster decisions for patients. In haemorrhage care, that reduced reporting time can really make the difference between life and death, or between a full recovery and lasting disability,” said Dr Robert Chen, Head and Senior Consultant, Department of Neuroradiology, Singapore General Hospital and National Neuroscience Institute (NNI@SGH).

The integration of iScreen into SGH’s radiology workflow since January has already shown significant improvement in report turnaround times for CT brain scans with acute ICH, reducing it to within 30 minutes from baseline of 30 to 60 minutes prior to model deployment.

AimSG, Unlocking the Potential of Radiology AI to Support Medical Care

Radiology AI plays a crucial role in supporting clinicians on diagnosis and improving patient outcomes. AimSG is Singapore’s national AI medical imaging platform developed by Synapxe, in partnership with the NHG Health, National University Health System, and SingHealth. The platform integrates AI into diagnostic imaging workflows across Singapore’s public healthcare ecosystem, making it easier for clinicians to adopt AI in radiology and other medical imaging fields.

AimSG enables multiple AI models to be coordinated, managed, and scaled across the entire public healthcare ecosystem. It functions as an AI model marketplace, enabling clinicians to switch between AI models without being locked into specific hardware or software.

AimSG is now being used at several public healthcare institutions, including Changi General Hospital, Khoo Teck Puat Hospital, National Centre for Infectious Diseases, NHG Polyclinics, National University Hospital, Singapore General Hospital, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, and Woodlands Hospital.

Additionally, the AI models available on the AimSG platform have been extended to primary care settings, such as NHG Polyclinics.
