Close to 10,000 people, including national athletes and cancer survivors, joined Run For Hope on Sunday to raise awareness for cancer and raise funds for National Cancer Centre Research Fund.

One of them was Calihashim Arrauuf Bahtiar, who ran the 3.5km category, to support his mother Ms Wan Petom. She was diagnosed with cancer that has spread to multiple organs in 2016.

This year, Run For Hope celebrated its 25th anniversary as Singapore's largest run for cancer awareness and research.

Co-organised by Four Seasons Hotel Singapore, Regent Singapore, A Four Seasons Hotel and the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) since 2008, Run For Hope has raised close to $1.5 million in nett proceeds.

This year's run was graced by Mr Chee Hong Tat, Senior Minister of State for Health, Communications and Information, who flagged off the 10km category at Singapore Sports Hub OCBC Square. Joining in were Team Singapore athletes as well as celebrity Paul Foster, filmmaker Daniel Yun and YouTube star Eden Ang.
