SingHealth Community Hospitals Champions Community Health and Unites Hearts at iWalk 2026, Raising Funds to Support Patients In Need

Singapore, 11 April 2026 – In a powerful show of community spirit and compassion, more than 1,200 participants gathered at Punggol Digital District (PDD) for iWalk 2026, SingHealth Community Hospitals’ (SCH) annual walk-a-jog, to raise awareness and support for our patients in their recovery journey and transition from hospital to home. Each step taken reflected a shared commitment to help patients rebuild their lives, restore independence, and continue their journey of healing beyond the hospital.

Held at PDD for the first time, iWalk 2026 took place in a vibrant heartland setting that brings together workplaces, learning spaces and neighbourhood life. Families, friends and corporate teams gathered for an afternoon of physical activity, connection and giving back, embodying the collaborative spirit central to building a healthier community.

The walk was flagged off by Guest‑of‑Honour Mr Tan Kiat How, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Digital Development and Information & Ministry of Health, alongside Special Guest Mr Gan Kim Yong, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry, and Grassroots Adviser for Punggol GRC. Participants completed either a 2.5km or 5km route along Punggol’s coastal and greenway trails.

Activities continued after the walk at Punggol Coast Mall, with live performances, interactive games and family‑friendly activities. A highlight of iWalk 2026 was the introduction of health advocacy booths led by SCH’s rehabilitation and nursing teams, in collaboration with partner organisations. The booths provided practical guidance on functional exercise, early rehabilitation and preventive care, bringing accessible health education directly to the community.

Associate Professor Gan Wee Hoe, Chief Executive Officer of SCH, said, “Recovery does not happen alone – it is a journey we take together with patients, families, healthcare teams, partners and the community. iWalk is a powerful reminder that when we unite with purpose, even the smallest steps can restore hope, dignity and independence. This collective spirit drives everything we do at SingHealth Community Hospitals, and we are deeply encouraged by the strong support from our participants, donors and partners.”

Ms Hozaidah Binte Hosain, Head, Physiotherapy, SCH, shared, “Many people still associate rehabilitation with hospital care or major medical events, but recovery continues long after patients return home. It is about helping people regain confidence in movement, rebuild independence and return to the activities that matter most. Through iWalk and our health advocacy booths, we want to show how rehabilitation can start early and be integrated into daily routines. Even simple exercises, when done consistently, can have a meaningful impact on recovery and long‑term health.”

To date, more than $250,000 has been raised through iWalk 2026. Proceeds will support programmes for patients, as well as education, innovation and research efforts to enhance patient care. The funds will also help patients who have exhausted other sources of financial aid to access essential treatment and care services.

Corporate and community support remained strong, with more than 400 corporate participants taking part in the event. All participants received an exclusive iWalk 2026 T-shirt and a goodie bag. SCH extends its heartfelt appreciation to all participants, donors, sponsors and partners for their generous support.
