OCH Volunteer Spreads Love and Kindness After The Passing of A Loved One Brings Profound Insights Into Life

Mdm Agnes Chiew, a 72‑year‑old retiree, was inspired to volunteer after witnessing her brother’s rapid decline and death from brain atrophy a few years ago. She now volunteers actively in OCH, supporting patients through games, activities, and companionship while often listening to their personal stories. Her experience engaging with terminally ill patients has also deepened her reflections on life, and after undergoing a medical episode herself last year, it has strengthened her empathy for patients and reinforced her dedication to spreading kindness, comfort, and joy through long‑term volunteering.

Mdm Chiew was also a recipient at the recent SingHealth Inspirational Patient and Caregiver Awards Ceremony in recognition of her contributions to OCH. The story was similarly featured on ZB Online.
