Bingo, taiji and karaoke are just some recreational therapy ideas that I introduced to keep his patients feeling happy and engaged. I believe in keeping patients engaged throughout the day, not just during their therapy sessions, to maximise their time for rehabilitation. I believe that happy and active patients recover faster. I am very passionate about seeing change and have made a personal commitment to keep our patients happy and active.
I manage the hospital’s volunteers and coordinates several projects with them. One of the projects is the Integrated Rehabilitation Programme, run by some 100 volunteers, caregivers and therapy assistants seven days a week. Some patients enjoy the rehabilitation programme so much that they return to the hospital as volunteers after they are discharged. When patients recover and return as volunteers, it shows that our programme has made a positive impact on their lives.
