Key Leadership Appointments at Eastern General Hospital and SingHealth Community Hospitals

• Associate Professor Gan Wee Hoe appointed Chief Executive Officer of Eastern General Hospital, effective 1 May 2026
• Associate Professor Cheng Tim-Ee Lionel appointed Chief Executive Officer (Designate) of SingHealth Community Hospitals from 1 November 2025, assuming full CEO role on 1 May 2026

Singapore, 16 October 2025 – SingHealth today announced the appointment of Associate Professor Gan Wee Hoe as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Eastern General Hospital (EGH), with effect from 1 May 2026. He will relinquish his appointment as CEO of SingHealth Community Hospitals (SCH) on the same day.

Associate Professor Cheng Tim-Ee Lionel will be appointed CEO (Designate) of SCH with effect from 1 November 2025 and will assume the CEO role on 1 May 2026.

A/Prof Gan brings extensive leadership experience in healthcare operations and strategic development. As Pro Tem CEO of EGH and CEO of SCH, he has demonstrated exceptional capability in driving complex healthcare initiatives, and architecting institutional clinical and operational systems to achieve excellence in care. Since his appointment as EGH’s Pro Tem CEO in January 2025, A/Prof Gan’s leadership has steadily advanced efforts in laying the critical foundations for the new hospital campus, guided by the vision of a digitally-enabled, future-ready health facility that places patients and staff at its heart.

A/Prof Cheng is a distinguished clinician-leader known for his collaborative approach, strategic foresight and unwavering commitment to patients and staff. As the inaugural Chief Data and Digital Officer of Singapore General Hospital (SGH), he successfully led the hospital's digital transformation journey, establishing key offices that strengthened data governance, cybersecurity and digital capabilities. As concurrent SGH Clinical Director (Artificial Intelligence), he also established communities of practice to drive and facilitate impactful Artificial Intelligence projects for staff and patients.

"These leadership appointments come at a pivotal time as we accelerate preparations for the opening of the EGH Campus in 2029-2030. In their new roles, A/Prof Gan will lead EGH in designing and validating its clinical and operational models for full campus operations. He will also continue working with his team to design and implement digital and artificial intelligence solutions for a smart hospital campus. A/Prof Cheng will helm SCH to advance its community care mission and strengthen cluster-wide population health initiatives.
