What is Trabectedin for?

Trabectedin is a chemotherapy drug usually used to treat soft tissue sarcoma. It is given as a 24-hour infusion using an infusion pump.


Side Effects


What are some common side effects of Trabectedin?

Early side effects

  • Nausea and vomiting may occur
    There are medications available, which may prevent or decrease these side effects. If you are given these medications, take them as directed.

Delayed side effects

  • A drop in your blood counts may occur several days after treatment
  • Constipation or diarrhea
  • Tiredness
  • Water retention 

Please seek medical attention if any of the following occurs:

  • Fever of 38°C or higher
  • Unusual bleeding, bruising or black stools
  • Pain, redness or swelling at or near injection site
  • Very bad muscle weakness or muscle pain
  • Very bad swelling with dizziness or lightheadedness
  • Signs of liver problem such as severe abdominal pain, tea-coloured urine, or yellowing of the eyes and/or skin
  • Signs of heart problems such as persistent shortness of breath, swelling of feet or lower legs
