About

Dr Toh Bin Chet is a Consultant in the Upper Gastrointestinal and Bariatric Metabolic Surgical Unit, Department of General Surgery, Sengkang General Hospital. He graduated with commendation from the University of Dundee, United Kingdom and completed his general surgery training under NHG-AHPL residency program which was accredited by the ACGME-I (Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-International). He went to Cambridge University Addenbrookes Hospital, United Kingdom for his clinical fellowship and has been subspecializing in Upper Gastrointestinal Surgical Oncology (Gastric and Oesophageal Cancer), Bariatric Metabolic surgery, Minimally Invasive surgery, Diagnostic & Therapeutic Endoscopy and ERCP (Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography).

Prior to Cambridge UK Fellowship, he has completed two-year fellowship in advanced minimally invasive upper gastrointestinal tract and bariatric metabolic surgery in SGH (Singapore General Hospital), NUH (National University Hospital) and TTSH (Tan Tock Seng Hospital), Singapore.

With a keen interest in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and education, Dr Toh holds appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor in Duke-NUS Medical School, Singapore, Adjunct Lecturer in Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technology University and Clinical Lecturer for Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore. Dr Toh is the Co-educational lead in General Surgery for Duke-NUS Medical School in SKH (Sengkang General Hospital) and appointed as physician faculty for SingHealth General Surgery Residency Programme. He is also an instructor for ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) course under American College of Surgeons.

Dr Toh is active in research and has authored several scientific publications as well as presenting frequently at international surgical conferences. He is also member of The Obesity and Metabolic Surgery Society of Singapore (OMSSS) and was elected as Honorary Auditor in 2017. With his special interest in bariatric metabolic surgery, he was also offered as member of IFSO (International Federation for The Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders).
