Dr Mustafa H F Khanbhai is a UK-trained General Surgeon and Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, currently serving as an Associate Consultant in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital, SingHealth. His clinical practice focuses on oncoplastic and minimally invasive breast surgery, integrating advanced imaging, digital innovation, and surgical precision to optimise patient outcomes. He also leads the Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) work at KKH, driving the integration of patient-centred metrics into routine care.

Previous Appointments / Achievements
Dr Khanbhai completed his PhD in Health Informatics at Imperial College London, where his pioneering work in natural language processing (NLP) secured two national awards and close to £1 million in research funding. His innovation became the first NLP solution of its kind adopted across the English NHS, earning national recognition including the BMJ Award for Digital Innovation and the Patient Experience Network Award for Innovative Use of Technology.
He was also an NHS Clinical Entrepreneur Fellow and part of the inaugural cohort of NHS England’s Clinical Fellows in Artificial Intelligence. His international experience includes a fellowship in minimally invasive breast surgery in Taiwan and research at the Surgical AI Research Academy, University Health Network, Toronto, where he developed a 3D MRI-based reconstruction model using machine learning. He is also a Visiting Fellow at the Patient-Reported Outcomes, Value & Experience (PROVE) Center at Brigham Health, Boston.
