Introduction

The one day workshop is designed to provide peri-operative and peri-anaesthesia nurses with greater insight into their clinical practices in the OR and PACU. The aim of the workshop is to provide structured didactic and hands-on sessions for participants with the understanding of the analysis, decision making and implementation issues of managing the surgical patients undergoing anaesthesia and post-operative care in PACU. This workshop is strongly recommended for both novice and experienced peri-operative, peri-anaesthesia and PACU nurses.

Introduction

The aim of this workshop is to provide a hands-on training session on acute care ultrasound for ICU outreach, cardiac arrest, hemodynamic monitoring, undifferentiated shock, respiratory failture, US-guided pleural aspiration and pericardiocentesis in emergencies. The workshop is strongly recommended for all clinicians who wish to improve her/his clinical skills in the diagnostic and management processes of patients in the acute care environment. Some examples of participants who might benefit from this course are: anaesthetist, trauma surgeons/physicians, ED physicians, physicians managing surgical patients in High Dependency Unit, etc.
