A career in healthcare retail was a natural choice for me as I have an early education in nursing and a degree in business management. I wanted to begin my career in an established organisation and actively searched for opportunities at SingHealth, Singapore’s largest healthcare cluster. Today, I’m a retail executive at SingHealth Pharmacare and I supervise a team of associates in the daily operations of our outlets. My role keeps me actively engaged daily with our customers and colleagues from various disciplines. I work with our vendors to set up promotional activities and roadshows at the outlets and refresh the product promotions to meet customers’ needs. I also organise product training sessions to ensure that our associates are equipped with the necessary product knowledge that can help them identify and meet customers’ needs and requests. I also participate in our department’s product evaluation meetings to share inputs from our customers and healthcare professionals.
My love for telling stories fits perfectly with my role as part of the SingHealth Group Communications team. I partner various stakeholders to communicate their messages through stories on a variety of channels such as our website, Facebook page and staff platforms. I enjoy the dynamism of working in different teams in areas such as patient safety, research, strategic human resources and leadership communications. Though I function largely behind the scenes, it is satisfying to know that I play a part in impacting patient care by aligning our staff to SingHealth’s vision of Defining Tomorrow’s Medicine through various communications strategies and touchpoints. During my free time, I indulge in arts and craft. I love watercolour painting and have even sold my work to raise funds for charity!
I believe that good spatial design is important in healthcare. Good design plays a part in improving the patients’ experience when they navigate through the road to recovery. I am glad to have joined SingHealth and be given the chance to produce good design to facilitate the delivery of quality healthcare in Singapore!
