The SingHealth Duke-NUS Global Health Institute (SDGHI) is a joint institute of SingHealth and Duke-NUS, which aims to address current and emerging health challenges across ASEAN member states and in other Asian countries. Working in collaboration with partners, the Institute seeks to tackle prevalent health challenges, strengthen health systems and better insulate countries from pandemics and disease threats.
SDGHI’s close relationships with SingHealth, Duke-NUS Medical School and Duke University, Durham USA enable us to combine diverse clinical expertise with academic scholarship to expand global health activities in the region and beyond. SDGHI possesses a faculty with broad range of disciplines and specialties, thus making it a multidisciplinary institute reflecting the field of global health. Led by Professor Michael Merson, the founding director of the Duke Global Health Institute, SDGHI is uniquely able to leverage and help build upon its partner institutions’ strengths and extend the research, education and training, policy and capacity building mission of the SingHealth Duke-NUS Academic Medical Centre.
Through its wide range of activities, SDGHI is developing a robust partnership network of academic institutions in the region. We are committed to working with our partners to develop local talent, cultivate a strong research culture and ensure sound operational processes. Within Singapore, SDGHI is collaborating with institutions in the academic, non-profit, government and private sectors to expand its work within and beyond the medical sciences to broaden its impact on global health.
