For an elderly patient, the recovery journey goes beyond treatment at a community hospital. 80-year-old Mr Koh (not his real name) was admitted to Sengkang Community Hospital after a fall while he was residing in a welfare home for the destitute. As Mr Koh had no income and was not in contact with his family, he depended on financial aid for his medical expenses.
During his stay in hospital, Mr Koh required regular dialysis sessions for his medical condition. He was also diabetic and this affected his eyes, causing various complications. Unfortunately, the aid Mr Koh received was not sufficient to cover the transportation cost for his outpatient medical treatments. To ensure that Mr Koh was able to continue receiving the necessary care for his conditions, the SCH Health Fund stepped in and provided financial and transport assistance. As Mr Koh was wheelchair-bound, the SCH Health Fund enabled him to have access to special ambulance transport so that he could get to his medical appointments comfortably. Mr Koh was eventually transported to his nursing home safely when he was ready to be discharged. The SCH Health Fund not only helps patients such as Mr Koh with their transport costs, but also provides essential interim financial assistance for patients in need of medical equipment and supplies.
The road to recovery can be a long process, but with your generous support, our needy patients will be able to meet their necessary healthcare needs.
