Skill-Based Volunteer Opportunities

1. Hairdresser1 & Hairdressing Assistant2

Volunteer Role:

1To cut the hair of patients
2To assist with the portering of patients, sweeping etc.

Requirements:

1Hairdresser must have haircut experience with proof of skillsets e.g. certification or voluntary reference letter for consideration

Timing:

Fortnightly / Ad hoc

Service-Based Volunteer Opportunities

1. Meal Translator

Volunteer Role:

To take patients' meal orders to bridge the language gaps between nurses and patients

Requirements:

Ability to speak in Mandarin, Malay or local dialects

Timing:

Daily, 2pm – 4pm

2. Bingo

Volunteer Role:

Help with logistics involved
Portering of patients
Play Bingo and interact with patients

Requirements:

Willingness to befriend and interact with patients

Timing:

Ad hoc

3. Art & Craft

Volunteer Role:

Help with logistics involved
Potering of patients
Make craft and interact with patients

Requirements:

Willingness to befriend and interact with patients

Timing:

Ad hoc

4. Rummy

Volunteer Role:

Help with logistics involved
Portering of patients
Play Rummy and interact with patients

Requirements:

Willingness to befriend and interact with patients

Timing:

Every Monday, 3.30pm – 5.30pm

5. Reminiscence Therapy

Volunteer Role:

Interact with patients using reminiscence therapy tools
Accompany patients for outings to National Heritage Centres

Requirements:

Willingness to befriend and interact with patients

Timing:

Every Tuesday, 3.30pm – 5.30pm
Outing on alternate Saturdays, 9am – 12pm

6. Mahjong

Volunteer Role:

Help with logistics involved
Portering of patients
Play Mahjong and interact with patients

Requirements:

Ability to play Mahjong
Willingness to befriend and interact with patients

Timing:

Every Wednesday, 3.30pm – 5.30pm

7. Physical Exercise

Volunteer Role:

Portering of patients
Provide encouragement to patients to participate actively

Requirements:

Willingness to befriend and interact with patients

Timing:

Every Wednesday, 1.30pm – 2.30pm

8. ActiveSG Physical Exercise

Volunteer Role:

Portering of patients
Provide encouragement to patients to participate actively

Requirements:

Willingness to befriend and interact with patients

Timing:

Every Thursday, 4pm – 5pm

9. Qi Gong

Volunteer Role:

Portering of patients
Provide encouragement to patients to participate actively

Requirements:

Willingness to befriend and interact with patients

Timing:

Every Friday, 2pm – 3pm

Event-Based Volunteer Opportunities

1. Performance at Wards

Volunteer Role:

Performing at activity rooms / roving around beds

Requirements:

Musical talent

Timing:

Ad hoc, 3.30pm – 5.30pm

2. Medical Escort

Volunteer Role:

To accompany lone patients for doctor's appointment at SKH Medical Centre

Requirements:

Willingness to befriend and interact with patients

Timing:

Ad hoc, duration about 3 hours
