A Bite to Remember

Eating a piece of Bak Kwa may be a simple treat for most of us. For the late Mdm Leong, it was a last wish fulfilled.

The late Mdm Leong was a palliative patient receiving end-of-life care at Outram Community Hospital (OCH). She had been on a liquid-only diet after her dentures broke, which resulted in significant and worrying weight loss.

Yet a simple trip to the dental clinic to fix her dentures was challenging for Mdm Leong, who had end-stage Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). To get around, she needed a suite of medical equipment, including a wheelchair and continuous oxygen support. The cost for this was too much of a financial strain for Mdm Leong and her family.

Thanks to the SCH Health Fund, Mdm Leong's visits to the specialist centre to receive treatment for her dentures were made possible, and she was again able to enjoy eating her favourite food.

Your gift can be the key to fulfilling such last wishes, help to provide them with more comfort and improve their quality of life for their remaining days.

The SCH Health Fund supports patients across SCH, from Bright Vision Community Hospital (BVCH), Outram Community Hospital (OCH) and Sengkang Community Hospital (SKCH). The Fund not only supports needy patients but also supports our work in clinical care, research and education, and patient support programmes.
