You will be given a follow-up appointment with the doctor after discharge.
TED stockings (Thrombo-Embolus Deterrent stockings) or Anti-Embolism stockings
Stockings to prevent blood clots in the legs
As your mother will not be able to move around much by herself in the ward, we will give her stockings to wear to prevent blood clots in her legs.
Thickener
A substance designed to thicken food or drinks to allow people with swallowing difficulties to eat/drink safely
As the patient has swallowing difficulty, we will be adding a substance to make the food and drinks thicker for him to eat and drink safely.
Titrate
Adjust the amount of medicine
We will adjust the amount of blood pressure medicine given depending on how he responds to the medicine.
Toe touch weight bearing (TTWB)
Putting minimal weight on the foot, just enough to lightly touch the toes to the ground for balance
