Embracing the Elderly

Working as a nurse at SCH is incredibly fulfilling as I enjoy working with our elderly patients and helping them on their recovery journey. The many opportunities to interact with my patients allow me to form deep connections with them. There is trust, respect and camaraderie amongst the team, and staff wellbeing is a priority here. In addition to the many events and initiatives to promote staff wellness at SCH, such as free tickets to tourist attractions and a Staff Wellness Room in every site, the management also takes the time to ensure that our feedback is heard. This environment extends to our professional growth, as we are also offered opportunities for our continuing education, including training sessions, seminars, conferences, and advanced diploma classes. As a nurse at SCH, we have the privilege of witnessing the entire patient rehabilitation journey, and it is incredibly rewarding to see our patients progress from being wheelchair-bound to walking independently. On the other hand, we also support palliative patients and their families during their most vulnerable moments by providing person-centred care. We do this by forming close relationships with our patients and their caregivers with open communication and collaboration.
