Our Unfading Passion

Amidst the varied backgrounds and years of experience, our nurses share an unbreakable bond – their unwavering commitment to the care of our patients. Hear from our nurses as they tell us what they like most about being a Nurse at SCH!

Embracing the Elderly
Working as a nurse at SCH is incredibly fulfilling as I enjoy working with our elderly patients and helping them on their recovery journey. The many opportunities to interact with my patients allow me to form deep connections with them. Witnessing their recovery and seeing them wear a bright smile on their faces really make my heart full. The sense of solidarity among the staff at SCH is also remarkable, as we all share a common goal of delivering top-notch care to every patient.

A Great Place to Grow

There is trust, respect and camaraderie amongst the team, and staff wellbeing is a priority here. In addition to the many events and initiatives to promote staff wellness at SCH, such as free tickets to tourist attractions and a Staff Wellness Room in every site, the management also takes the time to ensure that our feedback is heard. This environment extends to our professional growth, as we are also offered opportunities for our continuing education, including training sessions, seminars, conferences, and advanced diploma classes. We have grown from strength to strength as one SCH family.

A Place for All

As an infection control nurse, my responsibility revolves around maintaining and monitoring excellent hand hygiene practices to prevent the spread of diseases. Throughout the pandemic, I am heartened to know that my work has made a difference and kept my fellow colleagues safe. I feel an immense sense of pride to be a nurse within this compassionate and dedicated SCH family.

Through Difficult Times
As a nurse at SCH, we have the privilege of witnessing the entire patient rehabilitation journey, and it is incredibly rewarding to see our patients progress from being wheelchair-bound to walking independently. On the other hand, we also support palliative patients and their families during their most vulnerable moments by providing person-centred care. We do this by forming close relationships with our patients and their caregivers with open communication and collaboration.

Unforgettable Smiles
One of the most fulfilling experiences as a nurse at SCH is witnessing our patients' smiles when they are deemed fit for discharge and can return home. With dedicated care and support, we help our patients recover so that they can safely return to their homes. This sense of accomplishment and satisfaction – for both the team and patients – is unparalleled. The joy and gratitude expressed through those smiles are moments that stay with us forever. It exemplifies one of the great values of being an SCH nurse – making a positive impact on patients' lives and facilitating their successful transition back to the community they cherish.

The Bigger Picture
Working as a nurse at SCH provides me with the unique opportunity to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to plan and coordinate patient discharge plans. Our focus is on ensuring a seamless transition from the community hospital to the patients' home environment while maintaining continuity of care. In addition, I can make a significant and positive impact on the lives of patients in need. This balance between professional development and compassionate care is what makes working at SCH truly fulfilling and meaningful.
