This recall affects you if you are taking Losartas.

If you are a SingHealth patient, you will receive an SMS from SingHealth by 29 March 2019, if you are affected.

If you are unsure whether you are taking Losartas, you can check for the name of the medicine on the foil packaging of your tablets (on the back) or the medicine label on the container/bag that was given by the doctor/pharmacist.

There is no immediate safety risk with taking the medicine. Please continue taking your medicines until you have been provided with a replacement by your doctor.

You are not affected if you do not receive an SMS from us by 29 March 2019.

We will be sending letters to affected patients we are not able to reach via sms as well as those who do not have mobile phone contacts.

If your appointment is within 3 months (BEFORE 1 July 2019):

  • Please come for your scheduled appointment, your doctor will advise you then.
  • Remember to bring your supply of Losartas for this appointment.

If your appointment is ON OR AFTER 1 July 2019:

  • We will contact you within the next 2 weeks with an appointment date for review.
  • Remember to bring your supply of Losartas for this appointment.
  • There is no immediate safety risk with taking the medicine.

  • Please continue to take your medicine as prescribed.

  • It is unsafe to stop treatment as untreated blood pressure may lead to bad health outcomes such as heart attacks and stroke.

  • There is currently no evidence that Losartas has caused harm in humans, the potential risk is from long term intake.

There is no immediate safety risk with taking the medicine. Please continue taking your prescribed medicine until you have been provided with a replacement by your doctor.

If your appointment is within 3 months (BEFORE 1 July 2019):

  • Please come for your scheduled appointment, your doctor will advise you then.

If your appointment is ON OR AFTER 1 July 2019:

Please do not change your medicines on your own.

Not all medicines used for treating high blood pressure are the same, some may not be suitable for patients with certain medical conditions. Taking the wrong medicine that is not suitable for you can cause more harm.

There is no immediate safety risk with taking Losartas. Please continue taking your prescribed medicine until you see your doctor who will advise on a replacement.

There will be no charge for the consultation to review and switch your medicine due to this recall. If any test is needed to assess suitability of a switch in medicine, you will not be charged.

If your doctor replaces your medicine with another drug, you will pay for the new medicine. A note on the number of Losartas tablets you have returned will be issued and you will be refunded at a later date.

If you doctor keeps you on losartan, you will receive a new supply that does not contain the impurities. You will not have to pay for this as it will be an exchange for your returned stock of Losartas.

Yes, you will receive a refund (or exchange) for the returned Losartas if these were dispensed by us.

If your appointment with the SingHealth clinic/hospital which prescribed Losartas is before 1 July 2019 (within 3 months), please come for your scheduled appointment. Your doctor will advise you then. Bring along your supply of Losartas.

If your appointment with the SingHealth clinic/hospital which prescribed Losartas is on or after 1 July 2019 (More than 3 months), we will contact you with an appointment date. Bring along your supply of Losartas.

Please go back to your GP who prescribed it. As this is a nationwide recall, all GPs have been briefed.

You may be receiving this SMS as your number is listed as a caregiver / alternate contact to your family member. Please check accordingly with them.

If you/ your family members (who you are caregiver for), are not taking Losartas, it would appear to be an error. We are sorry if the SMS was mistakenly sent to you. Please ignore the SMS .

If you are a SingHealth patient, please update your personal details by downloading the Health Buddy app and clicking on “Personal Profile” icon. 1. We understand you may be anxious. Try your best to remain calm and carry on with your daily routines.

  2. It is important to continue to take your prescribed medication until you see the doctor for a review and replacement. It is reported by HSA that there is no immediate health risk associated with taking the affected medicines, and patients are advised not to stop or change treatment on their own. As losartan is used to treat high blood pressure, stopping the medicine without replacement of other equivalent medication can increase the risk of poor control of blood pressure.

  3. In the meantime, we would like to share with you some advice and tips from our healthcare professionals on keeping healthy.
