When Bukit Merah Polyclinic first opened in 2001, Ms Tan Kim Hong was one of its first retail pharmacy assistants. The consultation rooms were smaller and there were not as many patients as it has now.
"Everyone was very close-knit. 20 of us even took a short trip to Kuala Lumpur over a long weekend and visited the home of one of our doctors," she said.
She was also on good terms with many patients at the polyclinic, including a wanton mee stall owner at a hawker centre in Bukit Merah. She would even help to deliver her medicines to the stall.
Ms Tan has now joined Sengkang Community Hospital (SKCH)'s Rehabilitation Education Store as a pharmacy assistant, but her fond memories of the 14 years she spent in Bukit Merah Polyclinic will always stay with her.
