Assoc Prof Choong graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1981. She did her internship in the then Toa Payoh Hospital and the Singapore General Hospital. After obtaining the degree of MMed (Internal Medicine) in 1986, she started specialty training in Renal Medicine.
