“Having seen the toll that SARS had on the healthcare personnel then, this rapidly evolving situation did create a sense of deja vu, anxiety, and fear in me. I would say that one is never totally prepared for such a situation. The evening that I got the call about our first positive patient, my mind was focused on the safety of the junior doctors in my team and the nurses who were attending to the patients. Despite the uncertainties of dealing with the unknown virus, the junior doctors were very professional in their approach to the situation. they came together to provide emotional support for one another and kept themselves busy.”
