Delivering Care that Matters

Salbiah Bee Jamaludin, Executive (Ward Operations), Inpatient Operations, CGH

To Salbiah, “Delivering Care that Matters'' encapsulates the work culture at Changi General Hospital (CGH). It means empowering each and every colleague  to initiate change that improves the patient journey from hospital to home. She was given such an opportunity in 2013 when she participated in the IDEO (Andrew Chang Experience) Project, a collaboration between the Ministry of Health, CGH and St. Andrew’s Community Hospital (SACH), supported by global design company IDEO.

The project aimed to provide  patients with peace of mind on the medical costs of their treatment journey through helping them to recognise the options available, acknowledge their choices and make informed decisions.

As the Care Cost Advisor for the project, Salbiah provided  financial counselling, something she continues to do today. She helps patients understand and prepare for prospective future costs in their treatment journey. She is always happy to listen to their feedback, striving to provide patients with clear financial information when transiting into  rehabilitative care.

Salbiah’s experience also put her in good stead when she supported  the ward set-up in The Integrated Building, which provides both acute and community hospital beds in an age-friendly and conducive environment, ensuring  a seamless transition  from acute to subacute care for patients.
