A clear glass container, small pebbles, soil, white sand, and succulents and cacti in various shapes and sizes – these are some of the materials which patients of Bright Vision Hospital (BVH) have put together to form more than 25 sets of terrarium sold at BVH's charity carnival themed 'Farmer's Market' at Tampines Mall on Saturday, 15 September 2018.
The event was part of the community hospital's efforts to raise funds for their needy patients, where over 20 vendors offering locally harvested products and healthy snacks joined staff in the heartlands to show their support for our sick and elderly community. Some of the products sold at the various booths include fresh vegetables, cold press juices and brownies.
Over 300 residents visited the full-day carnival, which lasted from 10am to 6pm. Those who were present got to participate in activities such as Zumba, enjoy musical performances, engage in interactive games as well as take photographs with Marvel Superheroes cosplayers, who have volunteered their time and effort towards this event.
Prior to the charity carnival, a bidding campaign had been launched by BVH on their Facebook page on 11 September 2018, where members of the public could bid for items such as a 55" Philips Smart LED TV and staycations at various local hotels such as Grand Hyatt Singapore, Hotel Fort Canning and Park Regis Singapore – all of which have been generously sponsored.
More than $270,000 was collected from this fund raising initiative, and all funds will go towards providing better intermediate and long-term care services to needy BVH patients.
