One man ran 101km to raise $15,000 for Needy Patients at Bright Vision Hospital (BVH). His amazing feat earned ST Telemedia a place on the BVH Donor Wall.
Mr Lee at the Craze Ultra marathon earlier this year.
When Mr Lee Kian Soon crossed the finish line of the Craze Ultra marathon after more than 21 hours of running, he felt an immense sense of achievement. Aside from completing his longest marathon to date, he was running for a cause. His colleagues and his employer, ST Telemedia (STT) rallied together and supported his run by raising $15,000 for Bright Vision Hospital (BVH).
Running since 2009, Mr Lee has completed more than 100 marathons. Although this is his third time participating in the Craze Ultra marathon, it was Mr Lee’s first time completing 101km. Apart from contributing to the $15,000 donation, some of Mr Lee’s colleagues went down to support him in the wee hours of the morning to cheer him on.
Mr Lee added, “With all the strong support I have from my colleagues, I was able to draw strength when the going gets tough during the marathon.”
This donation is part of STT’s 25th Anniversary “25 Do Good” initiatives. STT seeks to ignite enduring change and create value that drives sustainable outcomes in everything it does and in the lives of those it comes into contact with. As such, the company and its employees were happy to support Kian Soon, who volunteered to complete the ultra-marathon to raise funds for two charities of which one of them is BVH. STT shared that it was truly heartened by employees’ generosity and as a show of support, the company also topped up the funds raised – a clear reflection of the STT spirit of giving.
STT’s cheque was presented to BVH’s Director, Medical, A/Prof Lee Kheng Hock, during our weekly variety hour programme. An appreciation plaque was also presented to STT by A/Prof Lee.
STT’s donation is also reflected on Gift of Hope, our new donor wall showcasing the spirit of giving and acknowledges the generosity of our donors. Mr Stephen Miller, President & Group CEO of STT and Mr Lee unveiled ST Telemedia’s name on Gift of Hope after the ceremony.
Apart from being an avid runner, Mr Lee has also been an avid donor. He has been donating to BVH since 2012 as he finds that rehabilitative and palliative care are two very important aspects of a patient’s well-being and BVH’s focuses on these aspects. He hopes to show his support to the patients and cheer them on through his donations.
