An Update on Remineralisation Therapies
Speaker: Dr Terry Teo
(Registrar, Paediatric Dentistry Unit, Dept of Restorative Dentistry, NDC)
Remineralisation  has  been  the  buzz  word  these  days,  with  almost  every  topical  agent  from
toothpaste to mouthrinses claiming the ability to remineralise tooth structure. This lecture examines
the veracity of such claims, examines new remineralising agents, and reviews the current evidence
on remineralisation.

Fluorosis, more than meets the eye
Speaker: Dr Tan Wee Kiat
(Senior Consultant and Head, Paediatric Dentistry Unit, Dept of Restorative Dentistry, NDC)
What is the prevalence of fluorosis among Singapore children and how does this compare to other
developed countries?
What are the issues that obfuscate the diagnosis/discussion on fluorosis?
What is the basis of the new recommendation of fluoride toothpaste for children,  and how do you
balance caries risk, fluoride concentration, and the risk of fluorosis in choosing a toothpaste for the
child patient?
Often we are asked such questions, by patients or medical / paramedical professionals.
This lecture gives  background knowledge  to  enable you to answer these questions accurately
and effectively.  Helpful to all dental personnel regardless of specialty.

The clinical consequences of radiotherapy include mucositis, hyposalivation, taste loss, osteoradionecrosis, radiation caries, and trismus. The risk of developing radiation caries and osteoradionecrosis remains a life-long threat and pose a heavy burden to the patients, affecting their quality of life. In this presentation, the radiation-induced changes in healthy oral tissues and the resulting consequences will be discussed. The clinical protocols for management of these patients will also be presented.
