RoleTo foster the collaboration between the clinicians and scientists.

Currently working onWe are currently working on delineating the immunopathogenesis of childhood onset Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE) and the multi-dimensional characterisation of the healthy Immunome using mass cytometry for the development and eventual deployment of the database as an online platform and reference Atlas (Extended Poly-dimensional Immunome Characterisation, EPIC). This is done with the strong support of the bio-informatics team in TII (Dr Martin Wasser and Dr Pavanish Kumar).

Joo Guan's research interests are…Immunopathogenesis of systemic vasculitides such as SLE and the characterisation of the immune regulatory cells for potential application in cellular immune therapies.

Long term wish toIn the long term, we wish to translate our findings into the improvement of clinical care of paediatric patients with rheumatic diseases.

Projects involved with1. Extended Poly-dimensional Immunome Characterisation (EPIC): A Reference Atlas of the Immunome from Birth to Adulthood
2. Interrogation of Childhood Onset Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Immunome for the Elucidation of Disease Mechanisms
3. Microenvironment driven re-shaping of pathogenic T effector and regulatory subset in active juvenile idiopathic arthritic patients
4. Predicting relapse in JIA patients upon anti-TNFA withdrawal
5. Preterm Immunome (PRIMO) Study
6. Web-based data analytics platform for the human immune atlas.
