Profile

Dr Tan obtained his primary medical degree at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and subsequently received his post-graduate training in medical microbiology from the University Hospital Wales, Cardiff. Following his membership of the Royal College of Pathologists (microbiology), he continued his medical service at Changi General Hospital (CGH) in Singapore.

He currently is a clinical microbiologist, and a clinical associate professor with the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School. Dr Tan is the current Deputy Chairman, Medical Board (Ambulatory Disciplines), Head of Infection Prevention and Control as well as a Senior Consultant with the Department of Laboratory Medicine at Chanig General Hospital. His professional interests are in antimicrobial resistance and surveillance, antibiotic stewardship, the development of relevant clinical diagnostics as well as teaching.
