Profile

Dr Tan obtained his primary medical degree at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and subsequently received his post-graduate training in medical microbiology from the University Hospital Wales, Cardiff. Following his membership of the Royal College of Pathologists (microbiology), he continued his medical service at Changi General Hospital (CGH) in Singapore.

He currently is a clinical microbiologist, and a clinical associate professor with the Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School. Dr Tan is the current Head of Infection Prevention and Control, chief of Laboratory Medicine, and Deputy Chairman, Medical Board (Ambulatory Disciplines) at CGH. His professional interests are in antimicrobial resistance and surveillance, antibiotic stewardship, the development of relevant clinical diagnostics as well as teaching.
