Profile

Dr Shashidhar Baikunje was appointed as Consultant Nephrologist at Singapore General Hospital in 2015 and he joined Sengkang General Hospital in 2016. He was promoted to Senior Consultant position in 2017 and he became the head of renal service in 2018. He has been involved in setting up of the renal services at Sengkang General Hospital since the inception.

He has previously served as Consultant Physician and Nephrologist at Glan Clwyd Hospital, Rhyl, UK and as the Head of the department of Nephrology at K. S. Hedge Hospital and Associate Professor of Medicine at Nitte University, Mangalore, India where he was involved in the setting up of renal and transplant service.

Dr Baikunje received his medical degree from Bangalore University, India in 1994. After his postgraduation in Medicine at South Gujarat University where he was the best outgoing student, he moved to UK where he obtained MRCP and pursued his specialist training in Nephrology and General (Internal) Medicine at Wessex Deanery.

Dr Baikunje has special interest in Chronic kidney disease and Glomerulonephritis. He has published papers in the areas of vasculitis, Postinfectious Glomerulonephritis and IgA nephropathy. He enjoys teaching and he is a Physician Faculty Member for SingHealth Internal Medicine and Renal Residency Programs.
