Profile

Dr Melvin Chua is a graduate of the University of Glasgow and he completed his Basic Medical Training in Scotland before pursuing his Advanced Specialty Training as a Geriatric Medicine / Internal Medicine Specialist Registrar at the North of Scotland Post-Graduate Deanery. Upon completing his specialist training, he worked as a Consultant Physician at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge before returning to Singapore to work at the National University Hospital (NUH) Singapore as a Consultant.

Whilst at NUH, he was heavily involved in the training of future geriatricians both at undergraduate and postgraduate level. He was the Program Director of the NUHS Geriatric Medicine Senior Residency Program and had achieved successful accreditation with ACGMEI. He was also heavily involved in administration most notably with Clinical Informatics having served as the Deputy Chief Medical Information Officer (Medicine).

Dr Melvin Chua subsequently sought a new challenge with Sengkang General Hospital joining the team to set up Singapore's newest hospital. He is currently the Head of Department of General Medicine and the Associate Designated Institutional Officer (ADIO) of the SingHealth Residency Program and is still heavily involved in education.

He is the immediate past President of the Society for Geriatric Medicine Singapore (SGMS) and Committee Member of the Chapter of Geriatricians Academy of Medicine Singapore.
