Profile

Dr Valerie Gan is a Senior Consultant Urologist at Department of Urology, Singapore General Hospital (SGH). She is currently Programme Director, Pancreas Transplant & Surgical Director, Kidney Transplant at SingHealth Duke-NUS Transplant Centre. She is also Programme Director for the SingHealth Urology Residency Programme.

She graduated from NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine with a MBBS degree and later obtained her MRCS (Edinburgh) and MMed (Surgery). She trained as a Urologist at SGH and is certified by the Specialist Accreditation Board / Singapore Medical Council.

Dr Gan was accorded the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) Award and did her fellowship training in kidney and pancreas transplantation at Glickman Urological & Kidney Institute, Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, USA in 2015. She is a gazetted transplant surgeon by the Ministry of Health, Singapore, and serves on its advisory subcommittee on renal transplantation. She serves as Deputy Director, National Pancreas Transplant Programme. 

Besides transplantation and male subfertility, she specializes in minimally invasive surgery for kidney cancers and other urological diseases. She is also actively involved in medical education and holds positions as Clinical Assistant Professor with Duke-NUS Medical School and Clinical Lecturer with NUS YLL SoM.
